Signs your website needs a redesign
A redesign is worth it when the site gets in the way of the next step a visitor wants to take. Check these on a real phone before deciding; some problems are fixes, not redesigns.
Five checks you can run today
- The offer is not clear in the first screen.A new visitor cannot tell what you sell, where you work and how to contact you without scrolling.
- The contact path breaks or hides.Send a test through every form and button. A form that never reaches your inbox costs leads silently.
- Phones struggle with the site.Text is small, buttons are cramped or pages take long to show content on mobile data.
- Nobody can edit it safely.Simple changes need a developer, or updates break the layout because the theme and plugins are outdated.
- The content no longer matches the business.Services, prices, locations or team details have changed, and the structure makes them hard to add.
What a website redesign includes
The written quote names the deliverables below that apply to your project, along with exclusions and how each one is checked.
| Part of the job | What you get | How to check it |
|---|---|---|
| Audit | A list of pages to keep, merge or retire. | You approve the written list. |
| Page plan | A new structure and the sections for each page. | You approve the page map. |
| Design | Layouts you review on a staging site. | Check each layout on a real phone. |
| Content | Your current text carried over or rewritten. | Read every page before launch. |
| Redirects | A map from each old URL to its new URL. | Test old links after launch. |
| Forms | The agreed forms and where each one sends. | Confirm a test message reaches your inbox. |
| Handoff | Access to your accounts and editing notes. | Make a sample edit yourself. |
How we protect your rankings during a redesign
Most of the search risk in a redesign comes from changed URLs, lost content and missing metadata. We plan those before design starts, not after launch.
- Step 1
Inventory the current site
List every indexed page, its title, description and the internal links that point to it. Pages that bring visits or leads are marked to keep.
- Step 2
Map every old URL
Each old URL gets a destination: the same URL, the closest new page or a deliberate removal. Redirects are set as permanent.
- Step 3
Carry what ranks
Content that already performs moves over with its headings and metadata, then improves only where the change is clear.
- Step 4
Check after launch
Test old links, submit the sitemap in Search Console and review crawl errors in the following days.
From your current site to a checked launch
- Step 1
Send your URL and what is not working
Include the main visitor action, the pages that matter most and any deadline with its business reason.
- Step 2
Agree on a written scope
Confirm what is kept, rebuilt and redirected, plus content responsibilities, price and launch checks.
- Step 3
Review on staging
Approve the page map and a representative layout on staging, checked on a phone, before the rest is built.
- Step 4
Build, migrate and test
Move approved content, set redirects, connect forms and tools, and test complete visitor journeys.
- Step 5
Launch and hand off
Back up the old site, publish, verify redirects and forms, and receive access and editing notes.
Website redesign cost: what changes the quote
Our work starts from $250, with a fixed written quote before work begins. The total depends on the scope below, so compare quotes line by line rather than by the final number.
To compare quotes, read each row against every proposal you get. If a quote does not answer a row, ask about it before you sign.
| Part of the job | What makes it cost more or less | What a good quote should spell out |
|---|---|---|
| Pages and templates | Each new page layout adds design and build time. | How many pages and layouts are included. |
| Content | Rewriting text costs more than moving the current text as it is. | Which pages keep their text, which get rewritten and who writes them. |
| Migration | More URLs, posts and media files mean more to move and redirect. | Which old URLs are redirected and what content is imported. |
| Languages | A second language adds pages to translate and review. | Whether English, Spanish or both versions are included. |
| Integrations | Each form, booking tool or CRM needs setup and testing. | Which tools are connected and how each one is tested. |
| Care after launch | Updates and backups are ongoing work after the site goes live. | Whether care is included or quoted as a separate monthly plan. |

Frequently asked questions
How much does a website redesign cost?
Our redesign work starts from $250, with a fixed written quote before any work begins. The total depends on the number of new layouts, content work, migration, languages and integrations.
Will I lose my Google rankings after a redesign?
Changed URLs and lost content are the main risks. We map every old URL, carry ranking content and check the site after launch. That reduces risk but nobody can guarantee rankings.
Can you keep my current content?
Yes. Content that works moves over, and we only rewrite where it is clearly outdated or you ask for it. The quote states who supplies and approves each piece.
Do you only redesign WordPress sites?
WordPress is our main platform. We can move a site from another builder to WordPress when that is the better fit, and the quote covers the migration.
Can the new site be in English and Spanish?
Yes. We work in both languages and quote each language version, its review and both versions of forms explicitly.
What do you need from me to start?
Your current URL, what is not working, the main action you want visitors to take and access to the site and domain when the scope is agreed.
Send your current site to fer@fer.marketing or through the contact form for a written redesign scope and a fixed quote from $250. We reply the same business day, 9 AM to 9 PM ET, in English or Spanish.
