Gym website design: memberships, classes and trials

Gym website design should help visitors compare membership terms, find a suitable class and book a trial with clear expectations about payment and cancellation. This guide gives gyms, fitness studios and personal trainers a practical build specification, content templates and acceptance checks. We have not audited gym or fitness websites and claim no gym-specific clients or results.

Gym website design starts with member questions

Start with the questions your front desk or trainers answer before someone visits: what it costs, what is included, which session suits a beginner and how to leave. Turn those answers into a page plan before choosing photography or a theme. Give every published answer an owner who can keep it accurate.

  • Membership gym

Explain access hours, staffed hours, included facilities and membership commitments. Separate joining, booking an induction and logging into an existing member account.

  • Fitness studio

Explain class styles, experience levels, passes and reservation rules. Visitors should know which location and instructor they are booking and what happens when a class fills.

  • Personal trainer

Describe the sessions you actually deliver, where they happen and how suitability is discussed. Distinguish a consultation, a trial workout and a paid training session.

Agree which business name, locations and languages the site represents. A trainer renting space should describe that arrangement accurately instead of presenting the host facility as their own. English and Spanish pages also need staff who can handle the expectations each version creates.

Gym website design: the essential page plan

Give visitors direct routes to prices, schedules and a first visit, without requiring an account to read basic information. Create separate service pages when the offer differs enough to need its own explanation. Repeating the same copy for every fitness keyword creates more maintenance without helping a visitor choose.

Membership pricing and cancellation terms

A membership pricing page should let someone understand the payment and commitment before they enter a sales conversation. Show the actual billing interval, compulsory charges, minimum term, inclusions and exclusions beside each plan. If pricing requires a consultation, explain what determines the quote rather than inventing an entry price.

Approve these fields for every membership

  • Price, billing and compulsory charges.State the currency, billing frequency, joining charges and other mandatory fees, with applicable tax treatment reviewed. Make any promotional period and the price afterward equally clear.
  • Access and usage limits.Name eligible locations, staffed versus member access hours, class allowances and any separate personal training charges. Explain booking windows, unused credits and guest access using the actual contract.
  • Commitment, renewal and exit.State the initial term, renewal arrangement, cancellation route, applicable notice and when billing stops. Treat freezes, refunds and cancellation as separate policies; a booking cancellation does not necessarily cancel membership.

California is one state example

The California Attorney General's renewal guidance explains the Automatic Renewal Law, Business and Professions Code 17600 and following, amended effective July 1, 2025. It addresses affirmative consent, notices and online cancellation for online enrollment. Have an adviser assess applicability alongside health club contract rules.

Membership summary to complete from approved terms
Plan and included access: [name and actual inclusions].
Due at joining: [complete amount and explanation].
Recurring charge and interval: [approved amount and interval].
Initial term and renewal: [actual arrangement].
Cancel through: [working route]; billing ends: [approved explanation].
Freezes, refunds and full agreement: [current policy links].

Rules vary by state and country; a California example is not a national contract template. Fer Marketing is not a law firm and gives no legal advice. Have qualified advisers approve contracts, cancellation wording and translations, then check that the website and membership provider display matching terms.

Fitness studio website schedules that stay accurate

Choose one operational source for the class schedule. If staff manage availability inside a booking platform, avoid maintaining a second calendar by hand unless someone is responsible for reconciling changes. A visitor should be able to identify the date, local time, location and class level before opening a booking screen.

A manageable schedule

  • Shows dated sessions, instructor and location.
  • Labels full, canceled and waitlisted sessions clearly.
  • Explains class credits and reservation eligibility.
  • Provides a contact route if booking fails.

A schedule that creates confusion

  • An undated timetable image that staff forget to replace.
  • A booking button opening another branch or class.
  • Available places displayed without current capacity data.
  • Holiday changes visible only on social media.

Include a full class, a substitute instructor and a closure in acceptance testing. For online sessions, confirm the displayed time zone and how joining instructions arrive. Document what visitors see when the vendor is unavailable, so an empty embed does not look like an empty schedule.

Trial signup with a complete staff handoff

Explain what a trial includes before asking for contact details. State eligibility, actual charges, expiry and whether attendance creates any ongoing payment obligation. A request for a callback, a confirmed class reservation and enrollment into a renewing membership are different actions and need different wording.

  • Trial inquiry

Use a short request when staff must check suitability or availability first. State who replies and the response expectation the gym can meet; submitting a preferred time should not imply a reservation.

  • Confirmed trial booking

Use the approved scheduler when it can reserve the correct session. Include arrival details, what to bring, any approved prerequisites and a way to change or cancel the booking.

  • Trial with later billing

Have the business's adviser approve the offer and enrollment process before implementation. Make the later charge, timing and cancellation route visible before agreement, and verify the actual provider behavior.

Test with fictional details before accepting the build

  • Follow the request to its destination.Submit a labeled test, find the staff record and confirm notifications reach the responsible person and backup. Check the visitor's confirmation says request or reservation accurately.
  • Keep public forms proportionate.Start with contact details and the session of interest. Keep medical histories, injury photos and detailed health screening out of a general trial inquiry; use a separately approved process when genuinely needed.
  • Separate optional marketing.Make the requested booking understandable without silently adding unrelated promotional enrollment. Have your adviser review planned email or text follow-up, privacy wording and vendor data handling.
  • Finish the uncomfortable paths.Test a full session, invalid contact information, a duplicate request and cancellation. Give staff a clear record of failures and confirm someone can help a visitor who cannot use the tool.

Personal trainer website design: credible profiles

A trainer profile should help someone understand who will lead the session, what they teach and which qualifications they actually hold. Separate professional certifications, course completion, memberships and personal interests. Do not let a badge or vague expert label imply a medical license or expertise outside the trainer's scope.

Verify before publishing each profile

  • Check the credential with its issuer.Record the exact credential name, issuing organization and current status. Use an issuer's public verification route where available, or ask for confirmation; do not publish private certificate identifiers unnecessarily.
  • Explain the work accurately.List actual session types, supported languages, locations and availability. Have the trainer approve any description of adaptations or specialist populations instead of assuming every instructor offers them.
  • Keep photographs and affiliations honest.Get permission for headshots, logos and facility images. Distinguish employment, independent contracting and a former role, and remove departing trainers from current class descriptions.

For personal trainer website design, a clear service explanation can matter more than a large team directory. Our coach website design guide covers consultation-led offers; our therapist website design guide and medical website design guide address different professional contexts. Fitness copy should preserve those professional boundaries.

Transformation photos and fitness testimonials

A genuine transformation photograph can still create a misleading impression about expected results. The FTC Endorsement Guides, consumer endorsements, address substantiation and clear disclosure of generally expected performance when an endorsement is not representative. A generic results-vary disclaimer does not resolve that issue.

The FTC's endorsement questions and answers explain disclosure of material connections, such as payment or free services, that can affect credibility. Review any incentivized testimonial and its disclosure before publishing it in either language.

Our recommended publication record

  • Preserve the original account and permission.Keep the member's approved words, publication permission and image rights with the business. Record allowed uses and where the material appears so removal requests can be handled.
  • Review the impression, not just the caption.Assess photos, headlines, time references and surrounding offers together. Do not retouch body shape, mislabel the period shown or attribute a change solely to your sessions without support.
  • Use a claim you can support. If you lack evidence for an implied transformation promise, leave it out. Real facility images and factual explanations of the session can communicate the offer without a body-results claim.

How to build a gym website in WordPress

WordPress is our main platform for public websites, repairs and ongoing care. Agree on the content, membership provider and acceptance tests before development. Use fictional member information during review and assign one business approver to resolve conflicting instructions.

  1. Step 1

Inventory the current website and tools

List public pages, locations, languages, account owners and the booking or membership provider. Identify useful content to retain and tasks that currently fail.

  2. Step 2

Approve the page plan and terms

Collect real prices, schedules, trainer details and authorized images. Get the business's advisers to approve membership, trial, privacy and cancellation wording before implementation.

  3. Step 3

    Confirm the provider connection

Choose a link, embed or separately specified integration. Confirm vendor access and ongoing charges, then define trial, reservation and cancellation behavior with the responsible staff.

  4. Step 4

Review layouts and build on staging

Approve phone layouts for memberships, classes and trial signup. Build reusable page templates on protected staging and load approved English and Spanish content where scoped.

  5. Step 5

Run member and staff acceptance tests

Compare prices with the membership system, book and cancel a fictional trial, and confirm staff notifications. Test full classes, schedule changes and both language routes; record and resolve failures.

  6. Step 6

    Launch and transfer ownership

Coordinate the approved launch, preserve relevant old page routes and repeat the live booking checks. Deliver account ownership, editing instructions, vendor responsibilities and a named owner for policy and schedule updates.

Include mobile usability, W3C WCAG 2.2 accessibility, speed, security, recovery and search basics as scoped acceptance items; use Schema.org ExerciseGym only for a matching gym entity and verified visible details.

Gym website design costs and quote checklist

Our web design and development work starts from $250, with a fixed written quote before work. This is a starting point for scoped work, not a complete gym website package at that price. Pages, content readiness, languages, migration and integration requirements determine the quote; see pricing.

Copy into your quote request

  • Supply the public URL, page list, locations and languages, plus who approves content.
  • Name the membership provider and required actions without sharing member records or passwords.
  • Define acceptance: matching terms, current schedule, trial delivery and functioning cancellation routes.
  • Separate project costs, third-party renewals, exclusions, account ownership and approval of extras.

When we can fit

  • You need a defined WordPress build, repair or provider connection.
  • Your team can supply accurate terms and approve fitness claims.
  • Your agency needs white-label web development, staging on its domain, and available NDA or non-solicitation terms.

When not to buy from us

  • Your current site works and staff can fix the schedule or booking link themselves.
  • You need a replacement membership billing platform or legal certification.
  • You want paid ads management, guaranteed rankings or promised membership sales.

Frequently asked questions

How much does gym website design cost?

Our web work starts from $250 with a fixed written quote before work. The price of a complete gym site depends on pages, content, languages, migration and booking requirements. Ask for membership software fees and ongoing care to be listed separately.

What pages should a gym website include?

Include memberships and terms, classes, the current schedule, trial information, real trainer profiles, location details and member help. Give cancellation and contact routes clear labels. Choose additional pages around actual services and the questions your staff repeatedly answer.

Can WordPress connect to gym membership software?

The appropriate approach depends on the provider. A link can be sufficient; an embed or custom integration needs access, support and a defined scope. Confirm the selected class, location, notifications and cancellation behavior before accepting the connection.

What should personal trainer website design include?

Explain your actual training offer, session location or online format, price arrangement, verified qualifications and consultation or booking process. Use your real identity and photographs with permission. Avoid implying medical qualifications or promising a body transformation.

Should a gym publish membership prices online?

We recommend publishing approved prices with their billing interval, compulsory charges and commitment terms so visitors can evaluate the offer. If the service needs an individual quote, explain the factors and next step. Keep the public page consistent with the enrollment provider.

Is the FTC click-to-cancel rule currently in force?

The 2024 rule was vacated by the Eighth Circuit in July 2025. That does not settle other applicable federal or state obligations. Use the official sources in the membership section and have a qualified adviser review your actual arrangement.

Can a fitness studio use transformation photos and reviews?

Have the complete presentation reviewed for permission, authenticity, advertising claims and disclosures. The testimonial section links the FTC guidance. If you cannot support the message a transformation photo conveys, choose factual service information and facility images instead.

Can you build gym websites in English and Spanish?

Yes, both languages can be included in the written scope. Name the people approving membership wording, class descriptions and booking messages in each language. Describe actual language support at the gym and test both versions through the chosen booking provider.

Send your public URL, page list and booking requirements through contact, WhatsApp or fer@fer.marketing. We reply the same business day, 9 AM to 9 PM ET, with a fixed written quote before work and white-label delivery available for agencies.
