Spanish SEO starts with US customer demand
This is SEO for Spanish speakers in the United States, not a plan for Spain or Latin America. Define actual US service areas, available Spanish support and accepted services first. US law firms are the worked example because legal searches connect specific needs, local availability and costly commercial clicks.
- Spanish abogado/abogados keywords in the US database
- 7,784
- Combined estimated monthly searches across those keywords
- 595,320
- abogados de accidentes, CPC $138.73
- 18,100/mo
- abogado de accidente de carro, CPC $164.00
- 8,100/mo
Semrush US database, October 2026. National keyword estimates, not unique people, local leads or Fer Marketing results.

CPC describes the advertising market, not organic difficulty or what your firm will pay. When a paid click lands on a Spanish page, that page still needs a clear service explanation and usable intake. The same destination deserves attention for organic search; these estimates do not predict rankings, calls or signed matters.
↑ Back to topSEO in Spanish: map intent before wording
Start with US keyword evidence and anonymized intake questions. A legal-register phrase can be accurate yet fail to describe how a prospective client asks for help. Mixed English and Spanish searches, including Spanglish, are research candidates to validate in your market, not a reason to mix every language into a heading.
| English page keyword | Literal translation | How people search | Page decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal injury lawyer | Abogado de lesiones personales | abogados de accidentes | Use the familiar entry term; explain actual accepted injury matters. |
| Car accident lawyer | Abogado de accidentes automovilísticos | abogado de accidente de carro | Use plain language without broadening the firm's case scope. |
| Immigration lawyer | Abogado de inmigración | abogados de inmigracion / abogados de inmigración | One useful page for accent variants; keep correct Spanish spelling. |
| Family lawyer | Abogado de derecho de familia | abogados de familia / abogados de divorcio | Separate divorce only when it needs a distinct service answer. |
| Lawyer near me | Abogado próximo a mi ubicación | abogados cerca de mi | Show a genuine office and service area, not a fabricated location. |
| Spanish-speaking lawyer | Abogado hispanohablante | lawyer que hable español | Illustrative mixed query; verify demand and actual language support. |
Semrush US database, October 2026: abogados de inmigracion and abogados de inmigración each show 6,600 monthly searches. Treat accent variants as one intent group rather than adding them as distinct audiences. Abogados de familia has 6,600 monthly searches; abogados de divorcio has 5,400. Neither figure establishes demand in your city.
A query map the firm can approve
- Group synonyms, accents and mixed-language variants by need.Keep source, US database date, practice, modifier and destination URL in the sheet. Do not create separate pages for every spelling, singular or plural form.
- Check service and jurisdiction before choosing the term.Have the attorney confirm that the plain-language label accurately describes the accepted work. Explain formal terminology in the body instead of replacing legal meaning to fit a keyword.
- Give immigration, injury and family inquiries different answers.Use immigration SEO, personal injury SEO and family law SEO to plan relevant services, consultation details and attorney review.
Make Spanish pages independently crawlable
Use stable Spanish URLs such as /es/abogados-de-accidentes/ alongside their English equivalents. On WordPress, inspect the language plugin, SEO plugin and theme together; on other stacks, inspect the route and head templates. A language setting in an admin screen does not prove that the public HTML is correct.
Google's hreflang documentation specifies self references, reciprocal alternates and fully qualified URLs. Use en/es for language variants or en-US/es-US for US-specific variants. es-US identifies US Spanish, es-ES Spain and es-MX Mexico; choose codes for the actual audience. An x-default can identify a fallback for unmatched languages; it is not a ranking boost.
Acceptance tests for each English and Spanish pair
- Each URL returns its own readable page.Run curl -I on each public URL to check status and redirects; inspect view-source or curl -sL for the Spanish heading and main copy. Require a final 200 response, no unintended noindex and no robots block. Confirm rendered content with URL Inspection when JavaScript is involved.
- Each language has its own intended canonical.Inspect rel=canonical in the HTML head. The Spanish page should name its own final absolute URL, not the English page. Check that the SEO plugin and multilingual plugin do not emit competing canonicals.
- Both pages publish the same reciprocal alternate set.Compare rel=alternate hreflang entries against the approved pair map, including each page itself. Open every absolute target and check the final destination. If x-default is used, verify its intended fallback and keep it consistent across the pair.
- The switcher opens the equivalent service page.Follow the visible link in both directions, on mobile as well. It must not send every visitor to a homepage. Do not force IP-based or browser-language redirects; a visitor and crawler must be able to open either URL directly.
- Page fields match the language and service.Check the Spanish slug, title, meta description, H1, html lang and meaningful image alt text. Use es-US for inLanguage on relevant page schema when appropriate; keep LegalService or Attorney names, phone and address consistent with visible facts.
- Spanish text survives templates, caching and direct entry.Open a practice page and a location page without switching languages first. Check menus, footer, breadcrumbs and contact widgets. An overlay or JavaScript-injected string is not proof of indexable Spanish content; verify Google's rendered output before accepting it.

Alternates: {{en/es or en-US/es-US}} | x-default: {{fallback if used}}

Evidence: {{status, source HTML, rendered inspection, switcher test}}
Owner: {{theme/plugin/route responsible}} | Retest: {{paired templates}}Make Spanish quality part of page acceptance
Spanish quality affects relevance and whether a person understands how to contact the firm. Audit literal legal terms, English fragments and inconsistent service descriptions as page defects. We fix these defects as page work and the firm's attorney approves the legal meaning before publication. For a full review of an existing Spanish site, see Spanish legal translation for law firm websites.
| Finding | Why it matters | Acceptance criterion |
|---|---|---|
| Only lesiones personales describes a car accident page | The service may be unclear to a lay reader | Attorney approves plain-language accident wording and scope. |
| A Spanish page says free consultation; English lists a fee | The offer conflicts across languages | Both pages state the actual approved fee and consultation terms. |
| Enviar opens an English form or confirmation | The contact journey changes language | Labels, validation, errors and thank-you message remain in Spanish. |
| Se habla español gives no staffing detail | The reader cannot tell who speaks Spanish | Identify attorney, intake staff or interpreter support accurately. |
| A required field asks for a full case history | Sensitive details enter a marketing form | Request minimal routing details and explain the approved next step. |
Test the whole Spanish contact route
- Trigger validation before submitting a test.Leave a required field blank and enter an invalid email. Check Spanish field labels, consent wording, validation, server errors, success text and confirmation emails, including third-party scheduling screens.
- Verify actual handoff using fictional details.Coordinate a labeled test with the firm, confirm delivery to the assigned recipient and check the Spanish reply route. Test phone links and mobile layouts; do not send case information to analytics or event labels.
- Record approval and a reason to review again.Save the attorney approver, version and date. Changes to fees, supported languages, staff or accepted matters should trigger checks of both language pages, forms and confirmation messages.
Connect Spanish pages to a real US location
Semrush US data, Oct 2026, records 72,530 combined monthly searches across cerca de mí / near me variants in the Spanish legal keyword set. Abogados cerca de mi has 5,400 and abogado de inmigración cerca de mí has 1,900. These national estimates support investigating local intent, not promising a share of nearby searches.
A useful Spanish location page
Explain the genuine office, appointment arrangements, accepted services and Spanish contact availability. Keep name, address and phone consistent across the site and listings; describe remote service without suggesting an office that does not exist.
One accurate business identity
Review Google Business Profile descriptions, services and supported language attributes where available in the account. Use Spanish wording where the interface and guidelines permit, retain the real business name and do not create another profile solely for Spanish.
A language promise reception can keep
State who answers Spanish inquiries and during which actual hours. A Spanish landing page should not promise Spanish attorney consultations when only a receptionist speaks the language. Confirm any interpreter arrangement before advertising it.
Check profile edits against Google Business Profile guidelines. Use local SEO for lawyers for location and profile checks, and the Google Business Profile checklist to document fields, ownership and corrections.

A useful audit ends with URLs, evidence, responsible owners and acceptance criteria. It should distinguish a shared template bug from missing content and an unanswered phone. Give each issue a priority based on its effect on access, language clarity or contact rather than an unexplained score.
- Step 1
Crawl both languages and map equivalents
Inventory public English and Spanish URLs, status codes, titles, indexability, canonicals, alternates and internal links. Pair equivalent services and locations; mark missing counterparts instead of automatically mapping them to a homepage.
- Step 2
Check language signals against the map
Inspect source and rendered output for representative pages and shared templates. Verify self-canonicals, reciprocal hreflang, direct URL access and switcher destinations. Record plugin or route ownership for each failure.
- Step 3
Review US search evidence and Spanish gaps
In Search Console, filter country to United States and segment Spanish URLs by the /es/ path or actual URL map. Review Spanish query groups separately, including accent and mixed-language variants. There is no language filter; page paths and query wording are proxies, and hidden queries limit coverage.
- Step 4
Write a prioritized fix list and fixed scope
Assign each gap an affected URL or template, proposed change, owner and test. Separate missing practice answers from technical exclusions and broken intake. Agree a written quote and backups before implementation; the entry price is not a complete audit price.
- Step 5
Obtain attorney approval and prepare changes
Have the firm approve legal meaning, fees, reviews, claims and language support. Implement the agreed SEO and page work in a test environment, including metadata, schema, forms and both sides of each language pair.
- Step 6
Publish, retest and document search follow-up
After approval, publish and repeat status, canonical, alternate, switcher and fictional form tests. Save changed URLs and dates, inspect key URLs in Search Console and compare equivalent periods later. Technical acceptance does not guarantee indexing, rankings or inquiries.
| Workstream | Acceptance evidence | Later review |
|---|---|---|
| Canonical repair | Each paired URL names itself | Google-selected canonical in URL Inspection |
| Spanish service page | Approved copy and crawlable HTML | US impressions and relevant query groups |
| Intake repair | Spanish test reaches assigned staff | Firm-classified relevant inquiries, without case details |
Spanish SEO services: what we implement
Fer Marketing is operated by Fer LLC, a US company founded by Fernando Marcano. Fernando has built websites since 2001, 25 years, is a native Spanish speaker and works in English and Spanish. He is Upwork Top Rated with a 100% Job Success Score; those credentials are not evidence of law firm SEO campaign results.
Defined website and SEO work
Audit agreed URLs, fix hreflang and canonicals, build Spanish practice or location pages and implement Spanish metadata, schema and contact flows. We work on WordPress and other platforms, including indexing, speed, NAP cleanup and Google Business Profile review and setup help.
From $250, with scope first
Web and WordPress work starts from $250. After inspecting the request, we provide a fixed written quote with URLs, tasks, exclusions and acceptance tests before work. That starting price does not cover every audit, new page or bilingual rebuild.
Agency delivery
White-label delivery is available for agencies with an approved page map, content and technical scope. Identify who collects attorney approval and who owns publication and verification. See white-label web development.
Before choosing a Spanish SEO company
- Ask for a URL-level sample deliverable.A proposal should show a page pair, an observed issue and a pass condition. 'Multilingual optimization' without fields, pages or tests is too vague to price or accept.
- Confirm ownership and review responsibilities.Keep domain, hosting, profile and Search Console accounts under business control. Name the technical implementer, Spanish reviewer and attorney approver instead of assuming one person fills every role.
- Match the quote to the actual gap.Use SEO pricing packages to frame scope questions. If templates and contact already work, identify the next useful page or search gap before paying for another technical review.
Send the site URL, US market, language pairs and observed problem through contact or fer@fer.marketing. The contact page offers the form, WhatsApp, text and call options. We reply the same business day, 9 AM to 9 PM ET, with a written scope before work.
↑ Back to topFrequently asked questions
What is Spanish SEO for a US business?
It makes relevant Spanish pages accessible to search engines and useful to Spanish-speaking US customers. The work combines US query research, language-specific URLs, technical checks, accurate service descriptions and Spanish contact routes. It differs from targeting customers in Spain or Mexico.
Is SEO in Spanish just changing English keywords?
No. Compare the service with the words customers use, group synonyms and accent variants, and validate mixed-language queries in your market. A lawyer page may need plain-language accident terms alongside an attorney-approved legal explanation. Do not build separate pages for each spelling.
Should we use es or es-US in hreflang?
Use es for a general Spanish language version or es-US for a specifically US-oriented version. Pair it consistently with the appropriate English version and verify reciprocal and self references. es-ES and es-MX describe different regional audiences; a code alone does not establish local relevance.
Can our Spanish canonical point to the English page?
For distinct, indexable English and Spanish service pages, each should normally name its own final URL as canonical. A Spanish canonical pointing to English can undermine the intended independent Spanish page. Inspect public source output and the plugin or template responsible, then verify how Google processes the URL.
Does a WordPress language plugin handle everything?
Do not assume so. Test stable URLs, source and rendered content, canonicals, hreflang, switchers and template fields. Some overlays only change the browser display. Also test Spanish form errors, confirmations and booking screens; a plugin setting does not verify the entire journey.
How do we measure Spanish SEO in Search Console?
Filter country to United States, segment known Spanish URLs and inspect Spanish query groups separately. Search Console has no language filter, and anonymized queries limit coverage. Compare equivalent periods, log site changes and distinguish search clicks from completed inquiries or signed matters.
How much do Spanish SEO services cost?
Our web and WordPress work starts from $250, with a fixed written quote before work. The final price depends on pages, templates, platform and acceptance tests. This is an entry price for defined implementation, not a promise to audit or rebuild an entire bilingual site for $250.
Do you sell translation or guarantee Spanish rankings?
We sell technical SEO and page work, including correcting the Spanish on your website. We do not do certified or court document translation, and we do not sell link building packages, paid ads management or content subscriptions. The attorney approves legal meaning and advertising claims. We guarantee no rankings and claim no practice-specific clients or campaign results; white-label delivery is available.
Send your URLs and US Spanish audience through contact or fer@fer.marketing for a fixed written quote. Web work starts from $250; we reply the same business day, 9 AM to 9 PM ET. White-label delivery is available for agencies.
